2. Screen Faulty
Constantly exposing the iMac to heat (be it heat generated by the iMac or environmental heat) can cause the iMac display to be faulty – be it iMac Screen flickering or iMac Screen Having Lines. Considering the fact that Apple Silicon iMacs comes with only 1 Mini fan at the bottom, while the screen produces heat, the logicboard as well produces heat. The body of the iMac is a thin aluminium material which conduct heat. The Apple Silicon iMac is housed to the heated Aluminium Body, which generates more heat to the screen. If the environment is warm, this will speed up the rate of screen faulty.

It is always recommended to keep the iMac in a air-conditioned room (if possible) while running heavy tasks so that the iMac does not overheat, and that prolongs the lifespan of the iMac Screen and iMac.

3. Display Data Cable (Screen Cable)
iMac Screen having lines or iMac Screen flickering? This is a common hardware flaw (design flaw) that affects iMac 24″ M1 and M3 models. This problem usually appears 2-3 years after purchase. It usually begins with thin horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen that gradually spread, followed by occasional flickering that worsens. What’s the root cause? A flex cable (FFC) that powers the LCD operates at high voltage and gradually overheats, worsening over time until failure. Reinstalling macOS will not solve the problem; it is a hardware issue. The remedy includes replacing the entire iMac Screen.

For iMac Manufactured With Intel Processor (2020 and before),

iMac Manufactured with Intel processor usually has proven to have a stronger screen. When the iMac screen has lines, they are mainly due to the following reasons:-

3. Display Data Cable (Screen Cable)
A Faulty iMac Screen Cable can cause the screen to have lines or flickering, maybe worse, the display is completely shut. The Display Data Cable plays an important role by transmitting digital signals from the logicboard and translate them into images to be displayed on the screen.
