A good port grips the plug with a firm click. When the springs inside wear out, the plug slides in softly and wobbles. Cleaning won't fix that. The port needs replacing.

Check the cable first
Try another cable and a 20W wall adapter. A worn cable is a common cause and costs nothing to rule out.
Then clear the lint
Switch off and lift lint out of the port with a wooden toothpick. Never use anything metal.
Loose, angle-only or one side only means a worn port
That needs a new port. Cleaning won't fix worn contacts.
Burnt or wet port: stop charging it
Black marks or liquid in the port can short the board. Switch it off and bring it in for a free check.

How much does iPad charging port replacement cost in Malaysia?

Why is my iPad not charging when plugged in?
In order: a faulty cable or adapter, lint packed in the port, a worn port, a dead battery, or a charging chip fault on the board. The free check tells you which.
Why is my iPad charging port loose?
Plugging the cable in and out wears down the contacts and the retaining springs inside the port. Once it's loose, cleaning won't fix it. The port needs replacing.
Why does my iPad charge on one side but not the other?
The plug works both ways round, so the port has contacts on both sides. When one side wears out or gets damaged, the iPad only charges one way. Try another cable first. If every cable does the same, the port needs replacing.
My iPad charging port no longer clicks. Is it broken?
A healthy port grips the plug with a firm click. If the plug slides in softly or wobbles, the springs inside have worn. Clear any lint first. If it's still loose, the port needs replacing.
My iPad charging port looks burnt. What should I do?
Stop charging it. Black or brown marks mean the port shorted and overheated, often from a damaged or non-original cable or charger. We replace the port and test the charging circuit on the board before you collect.
My iPad got wet and won't charge. Can it be fixed?
Usually, yes. Switch it off and don't charge it. Don't put it in rice. Bring it in so we can clean and test it free. If only the port is affected, it's a port replacement. If the board is damaged too, we quote that before we start.
Does my iPad have Lightning or USB-C?
iPad 10th generation and newer, iPad mini 6 and newer, iPad Air 4th generation and newer, and iPad Pro from 2018 use USB-C. Older models use Lightning.

Can I clean the charging port myself?
Yes, carefully. Switch off and use a wooden toothpick. Don't use metal pins and don't blow into the port.
My iPad says Not Charging on my laptop. Is the port broken?
Usually not. Most laptop USB ports don't supply enough power. Test with a wall adapter of 20W or more.
Will I lose my data?
No. A charging port replacement doesn't touch your storage.
