Can you upgrade the storage or RAM on a Mac Studio?

The storage, yes. Mac Studio storage sits on removable modules, so we fit larger matched modules and restore the Mac Studio with Apple Configurator, up to 8TB, or 16TB on the M3 Ultra and M5 Ultra. See Mac Studio SSD upgrade.

The RAM, no. The memory is built into the M-series chip, so it cannot be changed after you buy it. For archives, our private cloud storage is another option.

Why won’t my Mac Studio turn on?

Based on more than 10 years of repairing Macs, the usual causes are:

Power supply failure: the most common cause after a power trip, lightning or a pop sound. See Mac Studio power supply replacement.
Logicboard failure: if a known-good power supply still does not start it, the fault is on the board. See Mac Studio logicboard repair.
Firmware or display: sometimes the Mac Studio is on but the display is not detected. Try another cable and port first.

Do you fix a Mac Studio that is overheating with loud fan noise?
