Is Face ID failure always the TrueDepth camera?
No. Most of the time it is, but drops, water and short circuits can also damage the logic board, which stops Face ID even with a working camera. Our free diagnosis tells you which.
What is the TrueDepth camera?
It’s the front camera system at the top of the screen. It takes your selfies and runs Face ID, using a front camera, an infrared camera, a flood illuminator and a dot projector.
Why does my iPhone say “Face ID is not available”?
Restart and update iOS first. If the message stays, the TrueDepth camera is usually damaged, often after a drop or water. Sometimes the cause is the logic board. We test it free.
Why does Face ID keep saying “Move iPhone a little lower”?
If you’re holding it at the right distance, the TrueDepth sensors are damaged or blocked. Remove any screen protector or case covering the top, then let us test it.
Why is my iPhone front camera black?
Switch between front and rear cameras. If only the front shows black, the front camera has failed and needs replacing.
Face ID stopped working after a screen replacement elsewhere. Can you help?
Often yes. A non-genuine or badly fitted screen can disturb the sensors near the top. We check the screen and the TrueDepth camera.
Will I lose my data?
No. A TrueDepth or front camera replacement doesn’t touch your storage.
Do you give a warranty?
