LCD replacement or full screen? What you actually need
Lid straight, only the LCD damaged
Cracked LCD, lines or dead pixels with an undamaged aluminium lid. We replace just the LCD panel, which costs 30 to 50% less than a full display.
Lid bent or dented
If the aluminium lid is bent, the whole display assembly has to be replaced. There’s no way around it.
Camera, hinge or antenna damaged
When the damage reaches the camera, microphone, hinge or antennas in the lid, it’s a full display assembly.
M1 to M5 MacBooks too
LCD-only works on M1 to M5 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro as well. It’s the lower-cost option, and we only fit panels that match the brightness, colour and sharpness of Apple’s full display.
Stage light and Flexgate
The glow at the bottom and the screen going black past 30 to 40 degrees come from the backlight cable, not the panel. A cable repair often costs less than a screen. More on Flexgate below.

Flexgate: why MacBook screens die over time
The cause
Apple made the backlight flex cable slightly too short. Every time you open and close the lid, it bends. After a year or two of daily use it starts to wear through.
Which MacBooks
Mostly 2016 to 2022 MacBook Pro and 2018 to 2020 MacBook Air. We fix it almost every week.
Sign 1: stage light
Bright spots or an uneven glow along the bottom edge, like stage lights shining up. It usually shows first with the lid at a low angle.
Sign 2: black past 30–40°
The screen works with the lid barely open, then goes black when you open it to 90 degrees. The cable is on its last legs.
It only gets worse
Sign 1 always becomes sign 2, and sign 2 becomes a completely dark screen that costs more to fix. Don’t wait.

Will my MacBook still have True Tone after the screen replacement?
Yes. True Tone works on MacBook Air 2019 and later and MacBook Pro 2018 and later after our screen replacement, because we fit the original part and configure it with Apple’s tools.
My MacBook screen has vertical or horizontal lines. Is it the screen or the logicboard?
Plug it into an external monitor. If the vertical lines or horizontal lines only show on the MacBook screen, it’s the screen. If they show on the external monitor too, it’s the logicboard. We test both for free.
My MacBook screen went black but it’s still running. What’s wrong?
Usually the display or its backlight. Shine a torch at the screen: if you see a faint image, the backlight has failed. We test it with an external display to confirm before we quote.
What is the MacBook Pro stage light effect?
Bright spots or an uneven glow along the bottom of the screen on 2016 to 2019 MacBook Pro. The backlight cable is wearing out. It usually gets worse until the screen goes black past 40 degrees, so get it checked early. It can often be fixed without a full screen.
Is it worth replacing a MacBook screen?
A common rule is to repair when the cost is under half the MacBook’s value. Your files and setup stay as they are, so for most MacBooks a new screen is far cheaper than a new MacBook.
How do I know if I need a MacBook screen replacement?
