ECC memory only
Mac Pros take registered or unbuffered ECC memory, not ordinary desktop sticks. We fit the correct modules and matched sets so every memory channel is used.
2023 M2 Ultra: not upgradable
Memory is part of the chip. If a 2023 Mac Pro feels slow, the cause is usually a full SSD, not memory.

How much RAM does a Mac Pro take?
Mac Pro 2009 to 2012
4 slots on the single-processor tower, 8 on the dual. DDR3 ECC. Apple said 32GB or 64GB; with the right modules the dual-processor tower runs 128GB.
Mac Pro 2013
4 slots, DDR3 ECC 1866MHz. Apple sold it up to 64GB. It takes 128GB with four 32GB modules.
Mac Pro 2019
12 slots, DDR4 ECC 2933MHz. 768GB on the 8 to 16-core, 1.5TB on the 24 and 28-core. Memory must be fitted in matched sets of 4, 6 or 12 for full bandwidth.
Mac Pro 2023 M2 Ultra
Unified memory on the chip, 64GB to 192GB chosen at purchase. It cannot be changed.

The Mac Pro found no usable memory. Reseat the modules first. If it keeps beeping, a module or a slot has failed and we test every slot to find which.
Can I mix different RAM sizes in a Mac Pro?
You can, but it drops the memory to a slower mode or stops it booting. We fit matched sets so every channel runs at full speed.
