The 2010, 2011 and 2012 Mac mini is from RM650, up to 16GB. The 2018 Mac mini is from RM800, up to 64GB. The final price depends on how much memory you add.
2010 to 2012: the easy one
Twist off the round cover underneath and the two slots are right there. Often done while you wait.
2018: technician only
The slots are there, but the logicboard has to come out to reach them. A workshop job, not a desk job.
2014: can’t be upgraded
Apple soldered the memory to the board on the 2014 model. An SSD is the upgrade that still helps.
M1, M2, M4: can’t be upgraded
The memory is built into the M chip itself. There is no slot. Storage can still be upgraded.

Why can’t the RAM be upgraded on an M1, M2 or M4 Mac mini?
It’s part of the chip
On Apple silicon, the memory sits inside the same package as the processor, a few millimetres from it. Apple calls it unified memory because the processor and graphics share it.
Why Apple did it
Memory that close to the processor is much faster and uses less power. It’s a big reason the M-series Mac mini is so quick and quiet. The trade-off is that what you buy is what you keep.
Why we don’t solder RAM
Some shops advertise soldered RAM upgrades on M-series Macs. The memory chips are glued and soldered next to the processor, and removing them risks the chip itself. We don’t offer it.
The 2014 Mac mini too
Apple soldered the memory to the logicboard on the 2014 model, though it isn’t inside the chip. Either way, there’s no slot to add more.
What still helps
Free up or enlarge your storage. A nearly full drive slows an M-series Mac mini more than people expect, and an SSD upgrade up to 2TB is still possible.
